Shelf life of oils and dry powders is 12 months. Shelf life of water-containing products (toners and moisturizers) is 3-4 months.
Please note that whole-plant constituents are alive and fleeting. Our products are properly preserved with safe and natural cosmetic preservatives but they do expire. For best results, start using ROMI Apothecary products promptly and consistently. If you aren’t able to use them for more than 2 weeks, store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bring them back into your daily skin ritual.
Out of direct sunlight and prolonged heat. Avoid introducing water or dirty fingers into the containers. Limit the time containers are left open and unattended on your counter. Avoid touching dropper tips directly on your skin.
Our small-batch, in-house made products are handcrafted by a very small team of real women humans. We will announce shop updates on our Etsy Page and Instagram so please check there first. You can also check out our local Minnesota stockists for products.
Natural separation may occur with our face moisturizers as we do not use a synthetic emulsifying agent to fuse the oil and water emulsions. We use beeswax and blend our ingredients at a precise temperature to achieve an emulsion. If you experience slight separation, this is totally okay and does not affect the efficacy of the product. Just stir with a clean tool (toothpick works well but don’t use fingers that are wet or dirty) before use.
Sometimes when balms are heated & cooled, they develop a gritty/grainy texture. That’s totally normal for shea and mango butter to do so. If this happens and you want to fix it, place your balm jar (minus the jar lid and labels, which are not heat safe) on an oven safe pan and place it in the oven at the lowest setting (below 200F) for 5-10 minutes or until the balm is completely liquid.
Allow the balm to cool at room temperature just enough so you can touch the glass jar comfortably and place the jar in the freezer with the lid on loosely. The balm should still be liquid-y at this point. Allow the balm to harden overnight in the freezer. Then resume regular use!
There will be slight variations in color and smell from batch to batch as our products are highly dependent on the premium ingredients that we source. Nature is not highly consistent unless modified unnaturally to produce the same thing over and over again. Sometimes a harvest of plants could yield a different end product depending on soil, sun, rain conditions. We assure you that we do not change our formulations. If there is a issue with a product, please contact us and we’ll be happy to address your questions and concerns!
